Post Title: State Veterinarian: Aquatic Organisms

Salary: R896 436 per annum (all-inclusive remuneration package)
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) in Veterinary Science or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years relevant veterinary services experience
- Registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC)
- Knowledge of aquatic animal health, aquaculture systems, disease protocols
- Understanding of WOAH standards and SAVC regulations
- Strong communication, planning, and analytical skills
Responsibilities:
- Conduct veterinary import/export control for aquatic organisms
- Perform biosecurity audits and aquaculture stock inspections
- Support aquatic animal health research and manage biosecurity programmes
- Act as Biosecurity Coordinator for departmental aquaculture facilities
- Lead Aquatic Animal Ethics Committee (AAEC) and SOP reviews
- Develop and align aquatic health legislation and international standards
- Oversee the National Residue Control Programme and maintain reporting systems
