Position Details

Post Title: Senior Court Interpreter
Reference Number: 2025/04/MP
Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (plus benefits)
Type: Permanent

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 and a National Diploma in Legal Interpreting or equivalent qualification in language studies.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in court interpreting.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one of the following: isiXhosa, isiZulu, or Siswati.
  • Applicants will be subjected to a language proficiency test.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Verbal and written communication
  • Interpersonal and listening skills
  • Computer literacy (MS Word & Excel)
  • Planning, time management, problem-solving, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work under pressure and supervise others

Duties:

  • Render interpreting services in court.
  • Translate legal documents and exhibits.
  • Develop and maintain legal terminology.
  • Assist with the reconstruction of court records.
  • Perform administrative support functions and supervise court interpreters.
