Duties
The successful candidate will develop policy interventions to improve the implementation of the Local Government Municipal Demarcation Act, 1998, and the Local Government Municipal Structures Act, 1998.
Duties include providing strategic support to local government election processes, advising on municipal boundary determinations and redeterminations, supporting matters relating to provincial boundary alterations, strengthening municipal governance and supporting proper functioning of MPACs, EXCO, MAYCO, Section 79, Section 79A and Section 80 committees.
The candidate will also support the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Councillors, lead policy and legislative development relating to Sections 100 and 139 of the Constitution, support the Municipal Systems Improvement Grant and administer gratuity payments to non-returning councillors.
