Requirements
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma at NQF Level 7 in one of the following fields:
Town and Regional Planning, Economics, Development Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, Local Economic Development, Environmental Economics or Resource Economics.
Applicants must also have a valid driver’s licence and two years’ relevant experience in the field of Mineral Regulation.
Required knowledge includes general understanding of the mining industry and relevant legislation, understanding of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, related policies and guidelines, and familiarity with government developmental objectives.
Required skills include map interpretation, communication, computer literacy, report writing, map office research and stakeholder relations.
Applicants must also be able to conduct research, identify conflicts between surface development and mining titles, think laterally, identify linkages and communicate effectively with various role players.
Duties
The successful candidate will administer land use applications and conduct inspections, audits and assessments of land use and township development applications to identify possible impediments.
Duties also include administering existing old order rights applications, including re-registration, transfer, modification and abandonment processes.
The candidate will provide advice and handle enquiries on surface land rights applications from external stakeholders, compile record of decision letters with recommendations for approval, and maintain surface land rights application registers and databases.

Important Notes for Applicants
Applications must be submitted on the new Z83 application form, which came into effect on 1 January 2021, together with a detailed Curriculum Vitae.
