Minimum Requirements:

| Education | Honours/Postgrad Diploma in a quantitative field (NQF 8) OR Bachelor’s (NQF 7) |
| Specialisation | Actuarial Science, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, ML |
| Experience | 10–15 years in a data science environment, 3–4 years at specialist level |
| Advantage | Master’s degree |
Skills & Tools:
- Proficiency in Python, R, and other ML languages
- Advanced SQL and database skills (relational and non-relational)
- Experience with NLP tools (Spacy, Hugging Face) and data formats (JSON, XML, CSV, Parquet)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong communication – able to simplify technical insights for various audiences
- End-to-end ML project experience, including deployment and monitoring
Responsibilities
- Design and implement innovative ML/AI solutions to support SARS strategy
- Conduct research and stay abreast of the latest trends in data science
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML into business processes
- Operationalize ML models and expose outputs through APIs
- Present findings in the form of dashboards and reports to guide decision-making
- Ensure models align with risk, governance, and compliance standards
