Minimum Requirements
- Matric + Bachelor’s Degree in Politics, Development Planning, Business/Public Administration, Public Policy, or Strategy (NQF Level 7).
- At least 10 years’ relevant experience, 5 of which must be at a middle/senior management level.
- Proven expertise in strategic planning, international relations, and municipal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the City’s international positioning and strategic city-to-city partnerships.
- Attract, organise, and manage international events that benefit Johannesburg.
- Drive strategic leadership in the development of long-term city strategies.
- Engage with diplomatic and global stakeholders.
- Facilitate policy, planning, and development through research and strategic insights.
- Ensure effective management, reporting, and administration of the Strategy & IR Unit.
Core Competencies
- Knowledge of global governance, international agreements, and intergovernmental relations.
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking, communication, and project management abilities.
- Understanding of municipal budgeting, stakeholder engagement, and Batho Pele principles.
