The Housing Development Agency (HDA), a national public sector development agency responsible for acquiring, developing, and managing land for human settlements, is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Specialist: Brand Architecture position. This is a six-month temporary contract based at the HDA’s Head Office in Johannesburg.

If you are an experienced Brand Architect with a passion for strategic marketing and building compelling brand identities, this role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the HDA’s brand narrative and visibility in the human settlements sector.

About the Housing Development Agency (HDA)

The Housing Development Agency (HDA) was established in 2009 through an Act of Parliament with the aim of identifying, acquiring, preparing, and developing suitable land for housing projects and human settlements. The agency works in collaboration with national, provincial, and local governments, as well as communities, developers, and financiers, to ensure that quality housing is developed to meet the needs of South African citizens.

The HDA plays a vital role in driving the delivery of human settlements through effective project management, and it is governed by a Board that reports to the Minister of Human Settlements.

Position Overview: Temporary Specialist: Brand Architecture

The Specialist: Brand Architecture is tasked with developing and maintaining the HDA’s brand strategy, identity, and communication efforts. The role involves working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure that the HDA’s brand resonates with stakeholders, aligns with business objectives, and reflects the agency’s values and vision.

Key Responsibilities

As a Specialist: Brand Architecture, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Brand Building and Identity
    • Define the HDA’s brand vision, mission, and values.
    • Contribute to the development of marketing and communication strategies.
    • Analyze market trends and competitor activity to inform branding decisions.
    • Develop and enforce brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all communications.
    • Establish HDA’s value proposition as the government’s developer of choice.
  2. Brand Communication and Promotion
    • Ensure cohesive brand identity across all platforms (e.g., marketing materials, presentations, website).
    • Act as the brand custodian, ensuring consistency in all communications and marketing campaigns.
    • Develop promotional materials and brand guidelines for HDA’s initiatives and events.
    • Help create and enhance the company’s digital presence, including social media and intranet.
  3. Building Brand Equity
    • Oversee the creative direction of marketing campaigns to ensure they reflect the HDA’s brand standards.
    • Coordinate strategic brand initiatives and manage relationships with agencies and service providers.
    • Supervise the preparation of content for the HDA website to ensure consistency across platforms.
  4. Brand Experience Management
    • Design customer experience strategies that reflect the HDA brand across all touchpoints.
    • Regularly assess and improve customer interactions, including social media and customer service.
    • Monitor brand performance through metrics like awareness, loyalty, and market share.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Educational Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Brand Management, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in brand management, marketing, or advertising.
    • Experience in strategic planning and advertising execution is essential.
    • Understanding of the human settlements sector will be an advantage.
    • Membership in professional industry organizations (e.g., MASA) is a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license.

Remuneration and Contract Details

  • Salary: R55,741 – R72,466 per month (All-inclusive package)
  • Contract Period: Six months
  • Location: Johannesburg, Head Office
