Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent (NQF Level 7)
- Postgraduate qualification is advantageous
- 7–9 years’ experience, with at least 3–4 years at middle management level
- Understanding of municipal strategy, leadership capability, stakeholder management, and communications systems
Primary Role:
Provide strategic and operational communication support to the department. Oversee communications teams and manage media relations, stakeholder engagement, community outreach, campaign coordination, and adherence to CoJ communications policies.
Key Performance Areas:
- Lead internal and external communication strategies.
- Manage media relations, campaigns, and crisis communication.
- Direct civic education and stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Align communications strategy with the City’s overall strategic vision.
- Procure marketing services and manage communications budgets.
- Respond effectively to media inquiries and influence public perception.
