Specialist: Talent Learning and Development

Job Type: Permanent
Reports To: General Manager: Human Capital


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement an integrated Talent Management Strategy aligned with legislation and business needs.
  • Develop frameworks and processes to manage critical and scarce skills.
  • Drive succession planning, leadership development, and employee retention strategies.
  • Conduct workforce planning and facilitate onboarding and induction programmes.
  • Function as the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF).
  • Coordinate and implement Workplace Skills Plans (WSP) and Annual Training Reports (ATR).
  • Deliver learning interventions such as mentoring, coaching, case studies, and action learning.
  • Manage internships and learnerships.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of L&D programmes.
  • Liaise with SETA for compliance and maximise funding opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • A Postgraduate Degree in Human Resources, Education, Organisational Psychology, or a related field.
  • OD ETDP qualification (or partially completed) will be an added advantage.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in Learning and Development or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a management role.
  • Proven experience in training needs analysis, strategy development, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of the Skills Development Act and other relevant legislation.
