Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate
- Certificate (NQF Level 6) or National Diploma in Conservation or related fields
- 2–5 years’ experience supervising field rangers in a dangerous game area
- Field Ranger Basic Training and EMI Grade 5
- Valid Code 8 driver’s licence
- Valid firearm competency certificate (SAPC and PFTC compliant)
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Physically and mentally fit (fitness and medical tests required)
- Willing to reside at a remote outpost and undergo assessment
Added Advantages:
- 5–10 years’ experience in dangerous game
- Code C1 driver’s licence with PDP
- Advanced Field Ranger training or Master Tracker Training
- EMI Grade 2
- Dog Handler training
Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Section Ranger with biodiversity and cultural heritage management
- Supervise and assess patrols, deployments, firefighting, and censuses
- Enforce law, safety, and discipline in line with SANParks standards
- Manage assets, finances, staff mentoring, and stakeholder relations
- Support visitor safety and compliance with park regulations
Remuneration:
- Basic salary aligned with Paterson C1 grading
