Post Title: Senior Environmental Health Practitioner
- Salary: R41,800 – R54,258 per month (T13)

Requirements
- National Diploma or B-Tech Degree in Environmental Health
- 3–5 years relevant experience in municipal health
- 1–2 years supervisory experience
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence
- Law Enforcement/Peace Officer Certificate (advantageous)
- Environmental Management Inspectorate Certificate (advantageous)
- Knowledge of key legislation including:
- Air Quality Act (No. 39 of 2004)
- National Health Act (No. 61 of 2003)
- Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants Act (No. 54 of 1972)
- Hazardous Substances Act (No. 15 of 1973)
- Environmental Management and Conservation Acts
- Strong leadership, report writing, and communication skills
- Computer literacy
- Project management and community development knowledge
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor Environmental Health Practitioner performance indicators
- Enforce municipal health by-laws and issue permits and certificates
- Ensure compliance with Air Quality Management Plan
- Supervise Environmental Health Practitioners in the district
- Conduct municipal health inspections
- Monitor water quality and waste management systems
- Perform health surveillance of premises
- Manage communicable disease control and environmental pollution
- Ensure chemical safety and proper sanitation practices
