Deputy Director: Strategic Planning Ref No: 2026/88/OCJ

Requirements

Applicants must have a National Diploma at NQF Level 6 as recognised by SAQA in Strategic Management, Corporate Governance, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economic Science, Public Administration or a relevant qualification.

Applicants must have at least five years’ experience, of which three years must be at Assistant Director or Junior Management level in a strategic planning environment.

A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Applicants must have knowledge of National Treasury prescripts, strategy formulation, strategic planning, public finance legislation, the Strategic Framework on Planning, Annual Performance Plans, Strategic Plans, statistics, government prescripts, PFMA, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations 2016 and Public Service Transformation.

Duties

The successful candidate will facilitate the development and approval of the Office of the Chief Justice Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and Operational Plan.

Duties include developing circulars, timeframes, guidelines and templates for the Annual Performance Plan.

The candidate will facilitate inputs for the development of the Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan and ensure alignment with planning prescripts.

Additional duties include compiling Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan presentations, coordinating strategy and service delivery planning processes, performance reporting, data analysis and monitoring institutional targets.

The candidate will also conduct situational analysis for the Office of the Chief Justice and manage the Sub-directorate, including performance management, staff development and human resource administration functions.

Duties

The candidate will develop quarterly and annual Service Delivery Charter and Service Delivery Improvement Plan reporting templates.

Additional duties include coordinating Public Service Month, Integrated Public Service Programmes, Batho Pele activities and customer satisfaction surveys.

The candidate will provide support during the development and implementation of the Office of the Chief Justice Strategic Plan, Annual Performance Plan and Operational Plan.

Requirements

Applicants must have a National Diploma in Interpreting or an equivalent qualification in the field of languages at NQF Level 6 with 360 credits as recognised by SAQA.

Applicants must have at least one year of practical experience in an interpreting environment.

Alternatively, applicants with Grade 12 must have at least ten years’ practical experience in an interpreting environment.

Applicants must be proficient in English and isiZulu.

Proficiency in another indigenous language such as isiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana or isiZulu will be an added advantage.

Duties

The successful candidate will render interpreting services in court proceedings and related matters.

Duties include interpreting in criminal proceedings, civil proceedings, Older Persons Act matters, family matters, protection from harassment matters, Labour Court matters, maintenance matters, child justice matters, inquests and Equality Court matters.

The candidate will interpret in pre-trial proceedings and consultations, liaise with supervisors for foreign language interpreters and interpret non-verbal gestures, dramatisation and confessions.

Additional duties include engaging with the Judiciary on interpreter readiness and performance, translating legal documents and exhibits, studying source documents, conducting research and revising translated documents.

The candidate will also translate mechanically recorded audio material, develop terminology, maintain glossary registers and support the reconstruction of records.

Additional duties include attending to requests for re-issuing court orders, performing court online duties, assisting with enquiries from the public and legal practitioners and helping Registrars locate missing files.
