Post Title: Senior Research Specialist

Minimum Requirements:

  • A relevant PhD (NQF Level 10) in social, natural, or economic sciences
  • Minimum 5 years of research experience
  • At least 7 peer-reviewed journal publications
  • Proven experience conducting research across African countries

Preferred Expertise:

  • Good governance, human rights, and the rule of law
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Agenda 2063, SADC STI Protocol
  • Experience using both qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Use of advanced statistical analysis tools
  • Ability to integrate technology and innovation in multi-disciplinary research

Responsibilities:

  • Lead policy-relevant research and contribute to funding proposals
  • Publish in accredited journals and open access platforms
  • Collaborate with scholars and policymakers within and beyond South Africa
  • Represent AISA in regional engagements and travel across Africa
  • Guide junior researchers and support strategic partnerships
  • Co-develop research around AI, climate change, and digital innovation
  • Promote application of AISA’s research outcomes through cross-border collaboration
