Role Overview
The successful candidate will report to the Manager: Internal Audit and will be responsible for conducting IT audits in line with the approved annual audit plan.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have a Bachelorโs Degree or Advanced Diploma in Auditing, Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Commerce or a related qualification.
Certifications such as CISA, CGEIT, CRISC or CISM will be an added advantage.
SAP qualifications or certifications will be an added advantage.
Certification in data analytics will be advantageous.
ISACA or IIA membership will be advantageous.
Applicants must have four yearsโ relevant IT auditing experience, including IT General Controls Reviews and Application Controls Review.
IT auditing experience gained in a large company, auditing firm or advisory firm of a similar size to Public Protector South Africa will be advantageous.
Technical and Behavioural Competencies
Applicants must have experience in IT General Controls Reviews and Application Controls Review.
Data analytics experience is essential.
SAP auditing experience will be an advantage.
Network security or vulnerability testing experience will be an advantage.
Experience using Teammate to document audit work will be an advantage.
Applicants must have knowledge of IT audit frameworks such as COBIT, ITIL and ISO 27000.
Applicants must have knowledge of the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
Applicants must be computer literate in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Required competencies include planning, organising, coordinating, personal mastery, judgement and decision-making, ethics and values, client service orientation, report writing and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for audit management, conducting audits, reporting and stakeholder management.
Audit Management
The Internal Auditor: IT Audit will develop audit plans and prepare notification letters to clients in line with the approved annual audit plan.
Duties include conducting preliminary surveys on areas or processes to be audited, preparing audit planning memoranda, preparing process flows and system descriptions, preparing risk and controls matrices and evaluating the adequacy of controls.
The candidate will also prepare audit programmes based on preliminary survey outcomes and submit planning documents to the IT Audit Manager for review.
Additional duties include conducting introductory meetings with auditees, preparing audit files, cross-referencing working papers to audit evidence, applying feedback from seniors or supervisors, preparing quality audit files in line with IIA standards and audit methodology, and recommending controls in line with relevant laws, regulations and National Treasury frameworks.
Conduct Audits
The successful candidate will conduct audits according to the audit programme and provide reasonable assurance on the effectiveness of controls.
Duties include documenting working papers, cross-referencing evidence, downloading data from audited systems and performing data analysis using auditing software such as ACL.
The candidate will draft audit findings supported by valid audit evidence, identify root causes and provide practical recommendations.
Additional duties include discussing findings with auditees during audits, submitting draft audit findings to the IT Audit Manager, responding to review notes and conducting follow-ups on previous audit findings.
Reporting
The successful candidate will draft audit reports with findings supported by valid audit evidence.
Duties include identifying root causes, providing practical recommendations, attending to Audit Manager review notes, obtaining management comments and action plans, conducting exit meetings with auditees and preparing meeting minutes.
The candidate will also identify and report on standard criteria by referencing applicable Acts, regulations and policies that may have been contravened.
Additional duties include supporting the development of functional reporting systems for management, project or performance reporting, and regularly submitting progress updates to inform management decisions.
Stakeholder Management
The successful candidate will support proactive and progressive relationships with key stakeholders.
Duties include responding to enquiries and requests for information from internal and external stakeholders.
The candidate will also support relationships with vendors, service providers and procurement teams to ensure relevant procured items are invoiced and paid on time.
