Requirements

Applicants must have a National Diploma at NQF Level 6 or higher in Natural Sciences, Environmental Studies or a relevant equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.

Applicants must have at least two years’ experience as a Project Coordinator in a relevant Natural Resources Management field.

Required knowledge includes project management, alien vegetation control, general administration, financial administration, departmental procedures, prescripts and policies.

Applicants must be able to work under pressure, work with difficult persons, work long hours voluntarily, work with limited supervision, oversee contracted EPWP field workers and share knowledge with project workers and stakeholders.

Required skills include good interpersonal skills, coordination skills, report writing, human relations, communication and problem-solving skills.

Duties

The successful candidate will provide project planning support services.

Key duties include developing project operational plans, determining Annual Performance Plan targets, ensuring training plans are developed and approved, engaging stakeholders and maintaining a functional project advisory committee.

The candidate will also facilitate the implementation of project plans by overseeing recruitment of project field workers in line with EPWP guidelines, ensuring work opportunities and full-time equivalents are created, completing field verification requests for alien vegetation clearing, and monitoring training interventions.

Monitoring duties include conducting site visits and inspections, completing operational assessment reports, ensuring project vehicles comply with norms and standards, completing incident reports in line with Occupational Health and Safety policy, preparing key performance indicator reports, monitoring project cash flow and completing OHS assessment reports.

The candidate will also render project close-out services, including conducting interim and final site inspections, facilitating completion certificates for verified areas and compiling close-out reports.
