Requirements

Applicants must have a Grade 12 Certificate with Accounting or Mathematics as a passed subject.

A Degree or National Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification with Accounting as a passed subject will serve as an added advantage.

A valid driverโ€™s licence is required.

Generic Competencies

Applicants must have finance skills.

Problem-solving skills are required.

Client orientation and customer focus are required.

Technical Competencies

Applicants must have knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act.

Knowledge of Treasury Regulations is required.

Applicants must understand general ledger reconciliation and analysis.

Knowledge of travel and subsistence is required.

Applicants must have knowledge of the Basic Accounting System and PERSAL system.

Duties

The successful candidate will capture, reconcile and ensure that payments are made within 30 days.

The candidate will be responsible for all queries relating to BAS and PERSAL payments.

The role includes reconciling monthly IRP5 and ensuring timeous payments to the South African Revenue Service and other third parties for statutory deductions.

The successful candidate will liaise with clients and resolve queries related to payments.

The candidate will maintain and clear salary suspense accounts.

The role includes accounts receivable, accounts, journals, reconciliations and preparing payments.

The successful candidate will handle salary claims and clear suspense accounts.

The candidate will attend to payment enquiries and payments from other departments.

The role includes assisting with month-end closure processes.

The successful candidate will assist with providing source documents and payment batches to the Auditor-General and Internal Audit.
