Post Title: Assistant Director – Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance


Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: LLB Degree (admission as attorney/advocate is an advantage)
  • Experience: 3–5 years in legal practice or legal advisory roles
  • Knowledge Areas:
    • Constitutional, administrative, labour, contract, civil procedure, delict, commercial law
    • Governance, risk management, and compliance in the public or private sector
    • Legislative frameworks for the Post-School Education and Training (PSET) sector
  • Skills:
    • Strong legal drafting and advisory skills
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
    • Conflict resolution, planning, risk evaluation, problem-solving
    • Advanced computer literacy
    • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft submissions for senior management, DG, and Minister approvals
  • Ensure NSF compliance with relevant legal, risk, and governance standards
  • Develop internal control frameworks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Conduct internal audits, prepare audit findings, and support committee decisions
  • Provide legal opinions, manage litigation, and coordinate external legal counsel
  • Conduct legal research, write reports, and assist with contract law compliance
  • Support and promote NSF policy, values, and strategic operations
