Purpose of the Job:
To evaluate and monitor the safety performance and compliance of Air Operator Certificate (AOC) holders, ensuring alignment with aviation regulations and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluation & Surveillance:
- Assess compliance through inspections, including periodic and unannounced audits.
- Recommend issuance, amendments, or conditions for AOCs and operational specifications.
- Identify and report operational deficiencies and recommend corrective action.
Inspections:
- Conduct airline and site inspections.
- Investigate potential regulatory violations.
- Review operator documentation and training materials for accuracy and compliance.
- Stay updated on company changes and communicate with SACAA stakeholders.
- Evaluate personnel nominated as designated examiners.
Regulatory Standards Development:
- Research and propose operational standards for civil aviation operations.
Safety Promotion & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Represent SACAA positively to the industry.
- Gather and provide industry feedback.
- Promote aviation safety through continuous improvement proposals.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Grade 12
- Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
Ideal Qualification:
- CPL with Frozen ATPL
Experience:
- Part 121 Operations: 1500 flight hours with an ATPL
- Part 135 Operations: 1000 flight hours with a CPL
