Post Title: Inspector: Dangerous Goods X2
Purpose of the Job:
- Regulate and enforce the safe transportation of dangerous goods by air in line with ICAO Technical Instructions and Civil Aviation Regulations.
- Promote a safety and awareness culture across the aviation industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversight Activities – Inspections and Audits
- Plan and conduct inspections and audits as per ISO procedures.
- Submit detailed reports, assess instructor competence, and evaluate risk reports.
Administration
- Maintain client databases and handle all administrative correspondence.
- Manage documentation in line with SACAA records procedures.
Enforcement and Compliance
- Investigate undeclared/misdeclared consignments.
- Initiate enforcement actions and support major incident investigations.
Regulations and Manual Approvals
- Propose regulatory improvements.
- Assess and evaluate manuals for Part 141, flight operations, and other entities.
Exemptions & Special Approvals
- Process applications for exemptions and special permits.
- Ensure adherence to ICAO and ISO procedures.
Communication & Liaison
- Engage with stakeholders and represent SACAA at local levels.
- Provide feedback to SACAA and relevant authorities.
Other Duties
- Support the Cargo Security and Dangerous Goods Department as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma or NQF Level 6 qualification.
- Dangerous Goods Certificate(s).
Ideal Qualifications:
- National Diploma in Safety Management or NQF Level 7 qualification.
- Assessor and/or Moderator Certificate(s), Train-the-Trainer certificate.
Experience:
- At least 3 years in Aviation Safety/Security or Dangerous Goods.
- Dangerous Goods Instructor experience is advantageous.
