Chief Operations Officer Responsibilities
- Develop and drive strategic and business plans for nationwide operations.
- Oversee multiple departments: Business Services, Customer Care, Legal, Technical Services, Compliance, and more.
- Manage national operational systems and processes aligned with strategic goals.
- Oversee procurement, risk mitigation, policy implementation, and performance monitoring.
- Lead stakeholder engagement at the highest level, including national and provincial government.
- Promote ethical practices and organizational values while ensuring compliance with labour laws and industry regulations.
- Evaluate executive performance and drive operational excellence across the NHBRC.
Minimum Requirements
- Postgraduate degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related built environment discipline (NQF 8).
- Professional registration in the built environment (e.g., Pr Eng/Pr Arch).
- Additional postgraduate qualification in Business Administration or Leadership (NQF 9) is advantageous.
- Minimum 10 years’ operations management experience within a large construction or regulatory organization.
- At least 6 years in executive leadership, including managing technical teams.
- Strong understanding of public sector procurement, compliance, and governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with NHBRC operations will be a distinct advantage.
