Salary: R75 599.04 per month (basic salary excluding benefits)
Location: Metropolitan Centre, 158 Civic Boulevard, Braamfontein
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field (NQF Level 7)
- Certificate in Municipal Financial Management, Public Finance Management or similar (advantageous)
- At least 10 years of total work experience, with 5–10 years in a managerial role within public sector
- Experience managing complex accounting and financial modelling
- Strong understanding of IT systems and innovation in financial environments
- Code 8 Driver’s License
Key Performance Areas
- Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures for financial operations
- Manage crosscutting resources, performance, and compliance within the department
- Lead the financial, human resource, and administrative functions of Strategic Finance
- Ensure accurate reporting and alignment with legislative requirements including the MFMA
- Plan and manage departmental budgets and monitor financial performance
- Provide transversal business solutions to support the City Manager’s Department mandate

- Report writing and communication
- Problem-solving and people management
Core Competencies:
- Knowledge of MFMA, VAT Act, Income Tax Act, GAAP
- Strong auditing and risk management skills
- Understanding of corporate governance, municipal legislation, and Batho Pele Principles
