1. Fare Collections Specialist

Department: Transport
Branch: Scheduled Public Transport
Salary: R33 371.75 per month (excluding benefits)
Location: 75 Helen Joseph Street, Old Mutual Building, Johannesburg

Requirements:

  • Matric/Grade 12 plus National Diploma in IT (NQF Level 6)
  • 3–4 years’ limited transportation experience

Responsibilities:

  • Operate AFC terminal and monitor data from fare collection systems
  • Coordinate with vendors and monitor system issues
  • Prepare reports and assist with revenue analysis
  • Provide operational support to the Deputy Director of Operations

Key Competencies:

  • Computer literacy, project management, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication

2. Senior Specialist: Strategic Urban Planner (Infrastructure Planning & Coordination)

Department: Development Planning
Branch: City Transformation and Spatial Planning
Salary: R47 405.13 per month (excluding benefits)
Location: Metro Centre, Braamfontein

Requirements:

  • Grade 12/Matric + Bachelor’s in Town & Regional Planning, Urban Development, or Civil Engineering
  • 5–7 years’ planning experience with 1+ year in strategy/policy development

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate infrastructure investment through Johannesburg Strategic Infrastructure Platform (JSIP)
  • Provide input on capital budgeting and strategic frameworks
  • Use advanced Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) for data analysis
  • Support IDP, capital budget, and business planning processes

Core Competencies:

  • Municipal Systems Act, MFMA, SDF knowledge, project management, and spatial information interpretation
