Requirements

Applicants must have Grade 12.

Applicants must have Fire Fighter I and II or an equivalent qualification.

A First Aid Level III certificate is required.

Applicants must have a valid Code C driverโ€™s licence and a Professional Driverโ€™s Permit.

Applicants must have two to three years of practical working experience with firefighting equipment, apparatus, Hazmat awareness and operations.

Knowledge and Skills

Applicants must have operational competencies to operate fire and rescue pumps.

Bilingualism, communication skills, ability to work in a team and the ability to work with traumatised victims are required.

Key Performance Areas

The successful candidate will ensure effective communication with all relevant stakeholders.

Duties include interacting with fire victims and the community, performing daily inspections of vehicles, machinery and equipment, and ensuring that equipment functions properly to prevent breakages.

The candidate will also help ensure a safe working environment and promote safety in the community.

Additional duties include following safe working procedures, supporting team safety, performing control room duties when required, and conducting general maintenance on the station building and identified areas.
