Assistant Director: Financial Accounting

Nature of Appointment: Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: R468 459 per annum (Level 09), plus 37% in lieu of benefits

Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
  • A recognised 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Financial Accounting, Public Management, BCom or relevant qualification
  • 3 to 5 years relevant work experience in finance or accounting
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, GRAP, payroll taxation, NSFAS and related legislation
  • Knowledge of financial systems such as Pastel Evolution, Sage 300, SAP and other relevant systems
  • Good administrative, planning, organising, financial management and project management skills
  • Ability to compile financial reports
  • Good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

Duties:

  • Oversee revenue collection, banking services and electronic payments
  • Monitor procedures for collection and safekeeping of monies
  • Oversee debt management and debt recovery processes
  • Monitor and report on revenue against budget
  • Oversee payroll transactions and reconciliations
  • Authorise reimbursements and third-party payments
  • Oversee expenditure management for goods and services
  • Review expenditure reports and interim or annual reports
  • Supervise employees to ensure effective financial accounting services

State Accountant

Nature of Appointment: Permanent
Salary: R325 101 per annum (Level 07), plus benefits
Centre: Corporate Office

Requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
  • A recognised 3-year National Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Financial Management or relevant qualification
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in payroll financial management
  • Knowledge of BAS and PERSAL will be an added advantage
  • Sage 300 People and Sage Evolution certificate will be an advantage
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Knowledge of PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR, PPPFA and Financial Manual
  • Knowledge of PERSAL, BAS and LOGIS
  • Good planning, organising, communication and numeracy skills

Duties:

  • Process monthly payroll
  • Handle payroll deductions and salary queries
  • Prepare and distribute salary slips
  • Process invoices and expense claims
  • Prepare payment requisitions and payments
  • Reconcile supplier statements and manage creditor issues
  • Record financial transactions in the general ledger
  • Prepare trial balances and perform month-end and year-end procedures
  • Reconcile bank statements and maintain financial ledgers
  • Support debtors control, budgeting and inventory management
