SITA Entry-Level Vacancies 2026: Junior Specialist Information System Security (x10)

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is recruiting Junior Specialist: Information System Security (x10 posts) on a 36-month fixed-term contract. These roles are based in Centurion (SITA) and are suited for candidates who want to build experience in Cybersecurity / Security Operations Centre (SOC) work, including monitoring alerts, investigating incidents, and supporting second-level security incident resolution.

What you’ll do (SOC / Security monitoring)

In this role, you’ll be working in a shift environment where you:

  • Monitor ICT security events and alerts using SIEM tools
  • Investigate suspicious activity and potential security incidents
  • Record incidents properly and follow up with relevant support teams
  • Help improve monitoring by supporting new use cases
  • Support ongoing protection of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets

Minimum requirements

You typically need:

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • IT / Information Security-related certification (examples mentioned include Security+, CCNA, or relevant IT certificates)
  • 1–2 years experience in ICT infrastructure, information security, or application lifecycle environments
    Advantage if you’ve worked with firewalls/routers/antivirus tools, helpdesk, or SOC exposure.

Added advantage (if you have it):

  • ITIL Foundation, COBIT (intro/foundation)
  • Certifications such as Security+ / Network+ / A+ / CCNP and other security-related certs
