Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- National Diploma (NQF6) in Social Science or a relevant qualification recognised by SAQA
- At least 3 years’ experience conducting vetting fieldwork investigations in line with prescripts
- Proof that they have completed a vetting skills training programme at the SSA
- Knowledge of:
- Security vetting policies
- General security functions
- Public service prescripts
- Fraud prevention
- Security vetting investigations
- Skills and competencies:
- Gathering, analysing and interpreting information and reports
- Interviewing and investigation experience
- Policy development and application
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Excellent report writing
- Planning, organising, leadership and decision-making
- Conflict management and resolution
- Computer literacy (good working knowledge of Microsoft Office)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to work under extreme pressure, independently and in a team, and to work long hours voluntarily
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct vetting fieldwork investigations
- Conduct vetting investigations for secret and top-secret levels
- Manage and maintain vetting project files
- Compile vetting reports
- Develop and implement policies, guidelines, norms and standards related to vetting investigations
- Analyse research and evaluate vetting-related information
- Liaise with the State Security Agency (SSA) and other agencies
- Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders such as SSA, SAPS, SASS, Defence, Home Affairs, and other relevant bodies to obtain additional information and support
