Post Title: Advisor – Finance: Audit Support

Reference Number: 25/07/13 and 25/07/14
Cluster: Municipal Finance, Fiscal Policy and Economic Growth
Contract Duration: 12 Months Fixed-Term
Remuneration: Competitive salary package

Requirements:

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience, with at least 1 year at a similar level
  • Deep understanding of local government finance and the MFMA
  • Experience with audit support, Section 71/106 reporting, AG audit outcomes
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Computer literacy in MS Office (preferably also MS Projects)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement municipal audit support programmes
  • Conduct research and benchmarking for financial improvements
  • Provide advice, capacity building, and hands-on municipal support
  • Represent municipalities at forums and policy conferences
  • Monitor project progress and evaluate programme outcomes
  • Uphold governance, compliance, and stakeholder relationships

Requirements:

  • Degree in Human Resources Management or Development
  • Minimum of 3 years HR experience, including skills development
  • Experience in the public sector and knowledge of LGSETA processes
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
  • Understanding of HR legislation, policies, and compliance in municipalities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide HR systems and process support to municipalities
  • Coordinate councillor and official training and development
  • Facilitate WSP compilation, skills audits, and HR MIS improvements
  • Support municipal compliance with HR and training regulations
  • Represent SALGA at HR and training-related forums
  • Monitor programme implementation and stakeholder engagement
