Post Title: Municipal Patrol Officer x5
Directorate: Community and Protection Services – Law Enforcement
Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- 1 year relevant experience
- Peace Officer Qualification (minimum 6 weeks daily training recognised by SAPS)
- Code B Driver’s License
- Firearm proficiency and recent law enforcement duty (past 6 months)
- No criminal record; must pass police clearance
Other Requirements:
- Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (Afrikaans, English, Xhosa)
- Good interpersonal and conflict handling skills
- Physically fit, able-bodied, and capable of working 24-hour shifts
- Must wear prescribed uniform and acquire a municipal driver authority
- Must obtain official Firearm Competency Certificate within 1 month of appointment
- Must not have resigned from prior employment due to fraud investigations
Duties:
- Enforce municipal by-laws, legislation, and road traffic safety regulations
- Patrol designated areas and respond to safety threats
- Monitor compliance and complete statutory documentation
- Provide support in service delivery operations
Added Advantage:
- Code A or C1 Driver’s License
Salary:
- R23,407.45 (Total Cost to Employer) per month

Remuneration:
- Total cost to employer: Minimum R1,139,433 (Category 5 Municipality, as per government regulations)
Minimum Requirements:
- Postgraduate Degree in Public Administration, Management Sciences, or Law (NQF Level 8)
- 7 years’ experience at senior and middle management level (minimum 2 years senior)
- Competency in Municipal Finance Management Programme (CPMF/MFMP)
- Valid Code B Driver’s License
Key Duties:
- Oversee Corporate Services including HR, ICT, Admin Services, Legal, Compliance, and Property
- Develop and implement policies, budgets, and strategic goals aligned with municipal plans
- Provide corporate support to other directorates
- Advise on institutional governance and compliance
Other Competencies:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic management skills
- Sound understanding of local government legislation and governance
- Strong knowledge of SCM regulations, performance management, and legal frameworks
