Main Purpose of the Job
To manage logistics for guided activities, lead and supervise guiding staff, and conduct advanced guided experiences that enhance guest satisfaction and support conservation awareness in the park.
Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Advanced Certificate in Nature Conservation in Transfrontier Conservation Management – NQF 6, or Natural Resource Management, or Eco Tourism).
- National Diploma in Nature Conservation will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role and as a lead rifle guide in a Big Five area.
- THETA Nature Site Guide (Dangerous Game Area) Certificate – NQF Level 4 (must include View Potentially Dangerous Game unit standard).
- Valid First Aid Level 3 certificate.
- Valid EC (Code 10) driver’s licence and Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
- Valid DoT Registration (Site Guide for KNP & surrounding areas).
- SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate (or proof of application).
- SASSETA Unit Standards: 123519, 119651, & 117705.
- Basic financial and computer literacy skills.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organise camp-based guided activities.
- Lead both basic and advanced guided experiences such as game drives and bush walks.
- Plan and administer guided activity schedules.
- Market guided activities to increase revenue and occupancy levels.
- Deliver environmental education and interpretation sessions.
- Supervise and manage guides to ensure operational compliance.
