Post Title: Committee Officer (Permanent Position)
Role Mandate:
The Committee Officer will assist the Company Secretary with overall governance, secretariat duties, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and best practices such as the Companies Act, PFMA, and King IV.
Requirements:
- B. Com Law / B.A Law / LLB / Chartered Secretaries Southern Africa (CIS)
- Membership with the Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA) (advantageous)
- Master of Laws (LLM) (advantageous)
- At least 5 years’ experience in a secretariat role or as a Committee Officer
- In-depth knowledge of:
- Companies Act
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
- King IV Code
- Governance processes and practices
- Experience in a state-owned enterprise (advantageous)
- Valid driver’s licence
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide company secretarial support to EXCO, Board Committees, and Subsidiary Boards
- Maintain statutory records, minute books, and related governance documentation
- File statutory returns and ensure compliance with CIPC and other legislative bodies
- Draft resolutions, agendas, and meeting packs
- Advise leadership on corporate governance and compliance
- Contribute to strategic and operational risk registers
- Coordinate induction and training for Directors
- Prepare inputs for SAFCOL’s annual integrated and performance reports
- Oversee the scheduling and administration of meetings

- Effective written and verbal communication
- Attention to detail and high-level problem solving
- Ability to work independently and in a team
