Positions Available:IT Auditor; Data Analyst Specialist

Position 1: IT Auditor

Main Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the IT Audit Specialist, the IT Auditor will undertake audit engagements to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of financial and operational controls within the NLC. The role ensures compliance with corporate governance, ISACA guidelines, Global Internal Audit Standards, and the PFMA, while informing stakeholders on the state of the control environment.

Required Qualifications

  • B-Degree in Auditing, Accounting, IT, Computer Science, or Information Systems (or equivalent).
  • ISACA certifications such as CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, or CCAK will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years relevant experience in General Controls Review, Application Controls Review, and IT Security Reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform IT, operational, and financial audits.
  • Maintain audit documentation and coordinate follow-up on audit findings.
  • Present audit results to management and committees.
  • Identify and monitor IT risks.
  • Assist in preparing reports for EXCO, the NLC Board, and the Audit Committee.
  • Recommend solutions to address gaps in IT controls.
  • Support the IT Audit Specialist in implementing audit technology tools.

Competencies and Skills

  • Knowledge of Auditing Standards, Risk Management, and IT Systems.
  • Understanding of PFMA, Treasury Directives, and Governance Frameworks.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and IT governance principles.
  • Ethical conduct and professional integrity.

Position 2: Data Analyst Specialist

Main Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head: IT Audit and Advisory Services, the Data Analyst Specialist will analyse and interpret large datasets to detect anomalies, fraud indicators, and control weaknesses. The role includes developing data-driven audit strategies and supporting forensic and cyber-forensic investigations to enhance governance and compliance across the organisation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or Mathematics.
  • Scripting Certificate (essential).
  • Professional certifications with ISACA (CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, or CCAK) are advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience, including 2 years at supervisory level.
  • Proven experience in ACL Robotics (essential).
  • Proficiency in Python or SQL scripting (advantageous).
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Continuous Auditing priorities and data analytics frameworks.
  • Perform forensic and cyber-forensic data analysis.
  • Identify emerging IT and fraud risks using predictive and statistical models.
  • Provide data-driven insights to management and oversight bodies.
  • Mentor the Data Analytics team and coordinate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Prepare analytical reports and dashboards for governance committees.

Competencies and Skills

  • In-depth understanding of PFMA, Treasury Regulations, King IV, COBIT, ISO, and POPIA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Expertise in data analytics tools (ACL Robotics, SQL, Python, R, Power BI).
  • High ethical standards, professionalism, and communication skills.
