Accounting Clerk: Financial Accounting Services (Level 5)

Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (Level 5)

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification (no experience required).

Skills & Competencies

  • Generic: Financial management basics; problem solving & analysis; client orientation & customer focus; verbal & written communication; computer literacy.
  • Technical: Working knowledge of the PFMA and Treasury Regulations; exposure to BAS and PERSAL or VIP payroll systems.

Duties

  • Financial Accounting Services: Process invoices within 30 days; create debts and follow up on recoveries; capture journals; compile monthly cashbooks; perform general ledger reconciliations; maintain filing.
  • Salaries Section: Process payroll; perform employee tax reconciliations; process third-party pay-overs; process travel & subsistence claims; maintain filing.

  • Technical: Understanding of procurement processes; Treasury Regulation 8.2.3; PPPFA.

Duties

  • Provide secretariat support during bid consideration and contract conclusion.
  • Update and maintain the supplier database; register suppliers on LOGIS (or similar).
  • Request and receive quotations, place orders, and capture specifications on the e-purchasing system.
  • Issue and receive bid documents.
