Independent Correctional Centre Visitor (Level 5 – 3/8th)
Nature of Appointment: 36-month contract (posts to be filled from 1 March / 1 April 2026)
Salary: R85 620 per annum, plus 37% in lieu of benefits
Employment Equity: Preference to Whites, Indian Females, African Males, Coloured Males, and people with disabilities (per JICS EE Plan)
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Senior Certificate.
- Computer literacy with accurate data capturing.
- Nomination / recommendation letter as an ICCV from a community organisation (not older than 6 months) — must be attached.
- Ability to work independently and in a team; public-spirited; knowledge of Batho Pele principles; assertive and able to work under pressure.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Driver’s licence will be an advantage.
- Residency: Preference to applicants living near the correctional centre where the post is based.
Key Duties:
- Conduct regular site visits and report urgent matters.
- Interview and consult inmates and DCS officials regarding complaints and mandatory matters.
- Receive, capture, and track complaints/requests on the database; open and maintain case files; follow up on outstanding complaints.
- Compile and submit monthly reports with statistics.
- Attend to enquiries and carry out instructions from the Supervisor/Regional Manager.
