Purpose of the Role

To perform basic accounting and administration functions with a strong focus on bank reconciliations, petty cash, and cashbook-related processes.

Key Duties

Banking

  • Reconcile and analyse ABSA, FNB and Standard Bank statements daily
  • Check and follow up general ledger bank clearing accounts
  • Clear open items and maintain general ledger accounts
  • Handle ad-hoc bank queries
  • Prepare SAP reconciliations daily and print reports
  • Park cashbook journals
  • Perform general admin (photocopying, faxing, emailing information to departments)

Loans Taken and Support Programme Industrial Innovation (SPII)

  • Ensure invoices are correctly authorised
  • Prepare payment runs on Accounts Payable (SPII)

Petty Cash

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • National Diploma in Finance, Accounting or equivalent

Purpose of the Role

To provide financial reporting and management for 3rd party funds that IDC manages or administers, ensuring accurate application of accounting frameworks and fund governance.

Key Duties

Daily Tasks

  • Act as checker and releaser for IDC payments (Accounts Payable process)
  • Post all fund-related transactions into SAP
  • Calculate expected fund returns in line with fund department requirements and maintain these in SAP
  • Prepare or review journals and authorised payments for posting
  • Review payment proposals
  • Provide financial support and advice to fund managers
  • Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required

Monthly Tasks

  • Provide monthly cash updates to fund managers (inflows, disbursements, commitments – monthly dashboard)
  • Update/review interest on IDC company as well as each fund
  • Reconcile cash balances for 3rd party funds
  • Review and post fund journals and payments
  • Report on 3rd party funds and cash balances

Quarterly Tasks

  • Record IMC (ECL) adjustments for loan funds (e.g. MCEP, KIPP, CTFLGP)
  • Prepare quarterly financial updates (quarterly dashboard) for fund reporting
  • Monitor collateral relating to loan funds

Annual Tasks

  • Prepare annual financial statements in line with relevant accounting frameworks
  • Manage external audits for each fund (liaising with Loans, FAV, CSG, Risk etc.)
  • Maintain IFRS 9 compliance for loan funds, including day 1 calculations and modifications
  • Prepare annual cash balance confirmations for IDC audit
  • Manage impairment and fair value of financial instruments

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CA(SA) advantageous
  • 5 years’ experience in private sector or DFI environment with strong IFRS exposure
  • Knowledge of public sector regulations and PFMA (desirable)
  • Experience with IFRS 9 and expected credit loss accounting (desirable)
