Post Title: Assistant Head: Sports & Recreation

Remuneration: R53,022.85 per month (basic salary, excluding benefits)

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport & Recreation Management, Public Administration, Business Management, or related field (NQF Level 7)
  • 6–8 years’ experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role
  • Code 8 Driver’s License

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the implementation of regional sports and recreation programmes
  • Support city-wide strategic planning and operational execution
  • Oversee demand planning, budgeting, and procurement processes
  • Ensure team performance and staff development
  • Establish relationships with stakeholders, communities, and sports bodies
  • Monitor performance and ensure compliance with policies, frameworks, and service standards

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sport & Recreation Management, Public Administration, Business Management, or related field (NQF Level 7)
  • 10 years’ total experience, with 5 years at middle management level in local government or public sector (sports/recreation)
  • Code 8 Driver’s License

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for all sports, recreation, and aquatics services in the City
  • Oversee Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Planning (SDBIP)
  • Lead budget planning, procurement, human resources, and governance processes
  • Implement municipal sport development frameworks and aquatic safety standards
  • Establish strategic partnerships with community groups and sporting bodies
  • Drive inclusive participation and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks
