About the Role
The Learning and Awareness Component of CapeNature plays a key role in promoting environmental education and behavior change across the province. The Learning Officer will assist with the implementation, administration, and coordination of education and awareness programmes designed to cultivate environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with procurement duties for the Learning and Awareness component.
- Support the development of education, awareness, and capacity-building programmes and materials.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events such as biodiversity calendar days, Cubs Club events, and awareness campaigns.
- Coordinate meetings, forums, and training sessions.
- Support data capture and administration for assessments.
- Manage logistics, including transportation, accommodation, and resource administration.
- Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders and manage the component’s generic email account.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Public Relations Management, Communications, Education, Administration, or Nature Conservation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and at least one of Afrikaans or isiXhosa.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Valid South African ID and driver’s licence, with at least one year of recent daily driving experience.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and coordination skills.
Recommended Qualifications and Experience
- Accountancy or Mathematics at matric level.
- Knowledge of government procurement processes.
- Administrative and financial management skills.
- Experience in environmental education, event coordination, or running environmental clubs.
- A genuine passion for environmental education and communication.
