The Stellenbosch Municipality, through its Protection Services Department and in collaboration with the Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety (POCS), is inviting unemployed youth to apply for the Peace Officer and Traffic Warden Training Programme. This initiative aims to strengthen local law enforcement capacity while providing skills, training, and employment opportunities for qualifying participants.
Successful applicants will receive training fully funded by POCS. Upon completion, candidates will be offered a 12-month employment contract with a stipend.

Minimum Requirements
- Completed Grade 12 (Matric Certificate) (no statement of results accepted)
- South African citizen, aged between 20 and 35 years
- Residing in the Stellenbosch Municipal Area (must remain resident during contract period)
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence
- Valid South African ID
- Clear criminal record (or proof of application for status check – no criminal record allowed)
- Physically fit and healthy
- Ability to communicate in at least two (2) of the three (3) official Western Cape languages, including English
- Must pass:
- Diagnostic written test
- Physical test
- Random drug tests
- Must have own transport to and from the training facility
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work shifts and independently
- Prepared to wear a prescribed uniform
- Team player with discipline and good communication skills
- Must obtain a municipal driver authority competency certificate within six months after appointment
Responsibilities / Duties
- Assist in the execution of law enforcement and traffic warden duties
- Enforce Municipal By-Laws and Regulations
- Remain up to date with Peace Officer powers
- Uphold discipline, professionalism, and Batho Pele principles
