The Shosholoza Ocean Academy, in partnership with Garden Route District Municipality, has announced 60 career opportunities for Commis II Chefs onboard MSC Cruises, as part of the Garden Route Skills Mecca Initiative. The programme targets unemployed men and women residing within the Garden Route District and aims to create sustainable maritime and hospitality career pathways.
Opportunities are available across all local municipal areas in the district, including Hessequa, Mossel Bay, George, Knysna, Bitou, Oudtshoorn, and Kannaland. Successful applicants will embark on international cruise careers, gaining exposure and experience in a world-class hospitality environment.
Who should apply
Applicants must have 1–2 years’ relevant work experience in a hotel or restaurant setting and industry training from a reputable college or institution. Candidates should demonstrate strong professionalism, grooming standards, and a passion for hospitality, with a clear commitment to career growth.

- Completed GRDM CV template only (no other CV formats accepted)
- CV confirming previous work experience

- Police Clearance
- Valid Passport
- Body Mass Index (BMI) below 35
