Post 1: Section Ranger – Meerkat National Park
Paterson Grade: D1
Requirements:
- National Diploma in Conservation (NQF Level 6) or equivalent. A Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation is an advantage.
- Code 08 driver’s licence (PDP will be an added advantage).
- 5 years’ relevant work experience in conservation management, of which 3 years must be supervisory.
- Knowledge of PFMA, project management, conflict resolution, stakeholder liaison, and environmental management.
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Fluency in Afrikaans required.
Responsibilities:
- Implement invasive plant, alien animal, soil erosion, and rehabilitation programmes.
- Manage environmental monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and financial administration.
- Supervise field ranger teams, interns, and volunteers.
- Ensure compliance with conservation legislation, policies, and audits.
- Oversee infrastructure maintenance, visitor management, and cultural heritage sites.

Post 2: Field Ranger – Meerkat National Park
Paterson Grade: B3
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Std 10).
- Code 10 driver’s licence essential.
- Experience in natural resource management and basic administration.
- Basic maintenance and storeroom management skills.
- Added advantages: Field Ranger Basic/Advanced qualification, firearm competency, diploma in Nature Conservation, conservation legislation knowledge.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patrols, anti-poaching operations, and biodiversity monitoring.
- Support research, fire management, visitor management, and safety.
- Assist with alien clearing, rehabilitation, game capture, and game counts.
- Ensure compliance with OHS standards and assist in law enforcement within the park.

Post 3: Senior Manager: Visitor Safety and Protection Services (Fixed-Term Contract) – Table Mountain National Park
Paterson Grade: D5
Requirements:
- Degree/Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Policing, Public Safety, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
- At least 10 years’ leadership experience in policing, security, or law enforcement.
- PSIRA Grade A certification with 5+ years’ operations management.
- Firearm competency, driver’s licence, and fitness for field operations.
- Strong background in crime prevention, intelligence, incident management, and multi-agency coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Lead crime prevention and visitor safety strategy for Table Mountain National Park.
- Coordinate law enforcement operations with SAPS and stakeholders.
- Implement technology-driven safety systems (CCTV, GIS crime mapping).
- Manage volunteers, conduct audits, and oversee risk management.
- Build strong external stakeholder relationships.
