Communications Officer – Office of the Municipal Manager
Remuneration: R292 991.88 per annum (excluding benefits)
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field (NQF Level 7)
- 1–2 years relevant experience in the communication field
Requirements and Skills
- Valid Code B Driver’s Licence
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in at least 3 official languages used in the municipality: English, Afrikaans, Sesotho, Zulu
- Excellent communication, management, and interpersonal skills
- Strong report-writing ability
- High sense of responsibility and attention to detail
- Strong conceptual, written, verbal, and project management abilities
- Ability to work after hours during emergencies or planned overtime
Functions and Responsibilities
- Serve as the link between the Council and the community
- Implement the approved municipal communication strategy
- Maintain and update website content, social media, and print publications
- Draft media releases and organise media conferences
- Organise and manage all municipal communication events
- Coordinate all communication activities
- Capture photographs and submit them for website uploads
- Manage all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)
- Prepare media releases for supervisor approval
