1. Assistant Director: Sport & Recreation Grant Management

Ref No: DCSR/34/2025
Type: 3-year contract
Salary: R582 444 per annum
Centre: Head Office (Mbombela)

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric plus Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
    • Public Administration
    • Business Administration
    • Financial Management
    • Or equivalent qualification
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • At least 3 years’ experience in:
    • Grant management
    • Monitoring and evaluation
    • Data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of PFMA and related regulations
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and supervisory skills

Key Duties

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle for sport and recreation grants (business plans, compliance, frameworks).
  • Oversee grant budgets and ensure accurate and timeous financial reporting.
  • Maintain regular communication with programme managers and stakeholders.
  • Track grant performance, conduct monitoring visits and evaluate impact.
  • Contribute to the development of sport and recreation programmes and identify funding opportunities.
  • Collect, collate and analyse data aligned to relevant policies and regulations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (sport organisations, government, national departments).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports on grant and programme performance for reporting at national level.

2. Language Practitioner: Siswati

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree or National Diploma in Languages or equivalent, with specialisation in Siswati (SAQA-recognised).
  • Excellent command of English and Siswati (written and spoken).
  • Computer literacy.

Key Duties

  • Translate and proofread official departmental documents.
  • Provide interpreting services when required.
  • Conduct research on translation, interpreting and editing matters.
  • Liaise with language and cultural stakeholders.
  • Promote multilingualism, indigenous languages and South African Sign Language.

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and health and safety requirements.
  • Basic understanding of safe use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Corporate cleaning experience will be an advantage.

Key Duties (Both Posts)

  • Provide cleaning services: dusting, waxing, sweeping, disinfecting, scrubbing and vacuuming.
  • Empty and clean waste bins and remove waste paper.

13. Groundsman

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Level 4 (Grade 9).
  • Knowledge of garden maintenance and planting practices.
  • Understanding of basic government legislation and health and safety procedures.

Key Duties

  • Maintain gardens: watering, pruning, trimming flowers and trees, mowing grass, removing weeds.
  • Apply insecticides and cultivate soil for trees and flowers.
  • Maintain and repair minor defects on gardening tools and equipment.
  • Assist with loading/unloading deliveries.
