Minimum Requirements

- Educational Qualification:
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Recognised qualification as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant
- Registration:
- Active registration as a Basic Pharmacist Assistant with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Preferred Knowledge & Experience (Added Advantage):
- Experience and/or knowledge in:
- Warehousing and pharmaceutical storage
- Logistics and supply chain management
- Transportation of pharmaceutical items

Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Pharmacist Assistant Basic at the Medical Supplies Depot, you will work within the scope of practice under supervision and will be responsible for:
1. Receiving and Handling Stock
- Receive stock from suppliers in line with:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Good Distribution Practice (GDP)
- Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards
- Offload trucks and move stock into the appropriate quarantine area.
- Move stock from quarantine to designated storage areas once cleared.
- Pack stock on the correct shelves according to:
- FEFO (First Expiry, First Out)
- FIFO (First In, First Out) principles
2. Stock Control and Rotation
- Assist with stock rotation to prevent expiries and minimise losses.
- Participate in stock takes and inventory counts as scheduled.
- Help maintain accurate records of stock received, stored, issued and returned.
3. Issuing of Stock to Health Facilities
- Issue ordered stock, within scope of practice, to:
- Health facilities within Gauteng Province.
- Ensure the correct quantities and items are picked and checked against orders.
- Support safe and efficient handling of medicines in line with legal and ethical standards.
4. Dispatch and Movement of Orders
- Move loaded roll-trainers and prepared orders to the dispatch area.
- Collaborate with the dispatch team to ensure timely delivery of medicines to facilities.
