Key Duties
- Reduce new and legacy debts in line with set collection targets.
- Allocate new debts timeously and oversee tracing of uncontactable debtors.
- Communicate with debtors, resolve disputes and approve outbound debt communications.
- Verify debt statements, reminder letters and letters of demand.
- Monitor Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD) processes and instalments on PERSAL.
- Perform due diligence before referral of cases to the State Attorney and monitor progress.
- Administer and approve doubtful and bad debt write-off processes.
- Ensure BAS and Debt Collection systems are reconciled.
- Oversee new debt notifications, credit balances and ledger account maintenance within SLA.
- Approve credit refunds, transfers and journal processing related to debts.
- Ensure proper internal controls, accurate reconciliations and complete record-keeping.
- Manage and develop staff (ASDs, practitioners and filing clerks), including performance management, mentoring and training.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships (client departments, GPT Fiscal Policy, State Attorneys, auditors).
