Post Title: Research Chair – National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Studies
Division: Research, Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Type: 5-Year Contract
Location: Durban Campus
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and lead research on South Africa’s NQF design, RPL systems, governance, and impact
- Publish peer-reviewed research and policy papers
- Lead funding proposals and research grant management
- Supervise postgraduate research students and coordinate workshops
- Engage with national stakeholders (SAQA, DHET, CHE)
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Education Policy, Curriculum Studies, or Higher Education
- At least 10 years of post-doctoral research experience with focus on qualifications framework
- Strong publication record and grant management experience
- Expertise in mixed-methods research and policy engagement
Desirable Attributes:
- Previous collaboration with SAQA/CHE/DHET
- Experience in NQF digital innovation or outcome-based curriculum research

Professor:
- PhD in a mathematics-related field

Associate Professor:
- PhD in a mathematics-related field
- 7+ years of teaching & postgraduate supervision
- National/international research output recognition
Senior Lecturer:
- PhD in a mathematics-related field
- 5+ years of teaching and publication record
- Postgraduate supervision and community engagement
Lecturer:
- Master’s degree in a mathematics-related field (PhD preferred)
- 3+ years teaching and/or industry experience
General Requirements:
- Broad knowledge of undergraduate mathematics
- Research profile and experience with e-learning
- Strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills
Summary of Duties:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Research and publish in accredited journals
- Assist with curriculum development and departmental duties
