These municipal jobs include senior audit, project management, legal services and waste management control roles. 1. Chief Internal Audit: Probity, Compliance and QAIP (Internal Audit)

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma / Degree in Information Systems and a certificate in Internal Audit or CISA
  • IIA and/or CISA Certification (or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate Degree in Information Systems or Internal Audit is an added advantage
  • 5–6 years’ auditing experience in compliance audit
  • 3 years’ experience auditing SAP systems
  • Knowledge of internal audit professional standards, ISACA standards, governance, risk management and Municipal Finance Management Act
  • Ability to develop and perform QAIP (Quality Assurance and Improvement Programme)
  • Ability to prepare audit scripts and perform data analytics

Competencies Required

  • Lead and control audit assignments in line with approved methodology and standards
  • Manage audit teams and ensure proper governance, risk and control processes

  • Ensure audit work aligns with internal audit methodology and professional standards
  • Conduct follow-up reviews on corrective actions taken by management

  • LLB Degree
  • Admission as an attorney
  • At least 5 years’ experience in local government

  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and general management skills

  • Ability to draft legal opinions for multiple departments
  • Ability to deal with external stakeholders on problem matters

5. Casual Lifeguard x27 Posts (Beaches)

Basic Salary: R757.40 per day worked (No overtime)

Minimum Requirements

  • Essential Surf Lifesaving Certificate
  • Recent lifeguard award retest (must be up to date)
  • Must pass Council’s skills and physical fitness test
  • Must be available on weekends and public holidays
  • Ability to supervise members of the public on beaches
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills

Competency Requirements

  • Valid First Aid and surf rescue capability
  • Strong open-water swimming ability
  • Able to operate rescue boards and rescue tubes
  • Beach safety awareness and public instruction skills
  • Ability to record incident data, broadcast safety information and manage high-pressure situations
  • Leadership, calm decision-making and teamwork

Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol bathing areas and maintain vigilant public safety supervision
  • Perform rescues and provide First Aid
  • Keep rescue craft and equipment in good condition
  • Make public announcements and update safety notices
  • Keep records of sea conditions, beach attendance and incidents
  • Participate in compulsory daily training exercises
  • Work weekends and public holidays (no overtime is paid)

6. Casual General Worker x22 Posts (Beaches)

Department: Community Services
Basic Salary: R371.99 per day worked (No overtime)

  • Grade 8 or equivalent
  • Functional literacy
  • Basic communication skills
  • Must be willing to work weekends and public holidays

Competency Requirements

  • Ability to do manual labour (lifting, cleaning, weeding, raking, sweeping)
  • Physical stamina for outdoor work
  • Teamwork and reliability
  • Flexibility to handle different cleaning and maintenance tasks

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep beaches, ablution facilities, car parks and public areas clean and hygienic
  • Pick litter, sweep, rake beaches and assist with grounds maintenance (weeding, pruning, trimming)
  • Check that tools and equipment remain in working order
