Landscape Ecologist (Level 10) – 5 Year Contract
Post Details

- Salary: R750 656 – R867 963 per annum
Requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Botany / Biology at NQF Level 9 or higher
- Minimum 4 years relevant ecological experience within the Western Cape
- Registration with SACNASP as a Professional Natural Scientist
- Proven experience in data analysis, biodiversity monitoring, GIS (QGIS), and report writing
- Knowledge of fynbos, succulent karoo, freshwater and marine ecosystems
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel and conduct fieldwork
- Proficiency in at least two official Western Cape languages
- No criminal record
Key Responsibilities
- Provide landscape-scale ecological decision support
- Analyse biodiversity data and produce scientific management reports
- Guide protected area and landscape planning processes
- Support biodiversity stewardship, protected area expansion, and compliance
- Build partnerships and support ecological capacity building
- Lead ecological risk management and conservation intelligence initiatives
Conservation Assistant (Level 2) – Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve

Requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum 2 years related experience

Duties
- Assist with nature conservation, monitoring and surveillance
- Support eco-tourism operations and visitor services
- Participate in firefighting, search and rescue, and alien vegetation control
- Assist with maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, and trails
- Support law enforcement and compliance monitoring activities
Conservation Assistant (Level 2) – Vrolikheid Nature Reserve
