Stock Controller: Ammunition (C2)

Purpose of the Job

To receive, store, maintain, audit, issue and transport ammunition in strict compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Driver’s Licence (Code B)
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a store or warehousing environment

Added Advantage

  • Magazine Master Certificate
  • Certificate in Storage and Transport of Dangerous Goods
  • Professional Driving Permit (PRDP)

Critical Performance Areas

  • Receive and release ammunition for dispatch to the correct test points at the required time
  • Load and transport ammunition and explosives in accordance with explosives regulations
  • Capture ammunition stock levels, movement and usage on tally cards to ensure accurate records
  • Respond to local and international client requests by providing accurate ammunition information
  • Verify the correctness of client-provided information and provide feedback where necessary
  • Extract ammunition requirements from client test specifications and identify anomalies
  • Conduct ammunition stock verifications at prescribed intervals
  • Supervise the Magazine Assistant to ensure proper maintenance of magazines
  • Ensure correct ammunition compatibility and good housekeeping in all magazines
  • Conduct incoming inspections on all received ammunition

Knowledge and Functional Skills

  • Knowledge of explosives regulations
  • Basic knowledge of colour coding and identification of ammunition
  • Basic understanding of management systems such as SHE and Quality systems
