The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is recruiting 50 Research Support Assistants in Rangeland and Forage Science at its ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) campus in Irene, Pretoria.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for candidates with Grade 12 who are interested in agriculture, environmental research, and hands-on fieldwork.

About the Role

As a Research Support Assistant, you will work closely with research scientists and technical teams in the field of rangeland and forage science. The role involves supporting research projects, collecting data, maintaining equipment, and assisting in achieving research objectives.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor work and want to gain practical experience in agricultural research.


Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Providing regular verbal and written feedback on field activities
  • Working closely with research personnel to achieve project deliverables
  • Ensuring accurate and timeous completion of assigned tasks
  • Maintaining data-collection equipment and using materials cost-effectively
  • Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform routine and physically demanding work
  • Willingness to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
  • Strong sense of responsibility, accuracy, and independence
