Cederberg Municipality is hiring an experienced Traffic Officer (Grade I) who is also qualified as an Examiner of Vehicles and Driving Licences. The successful candidate will be based in Clanwilliam and will help keep roads safe, vehicles compliant and traffic flowing smoothly across the municipality’s towns and rural areas.

Key Duties
As Traffic Officer (Grade I) & Examiner of Vehicles/Driving Licences, you will:
- Render efficient and sustainable traffic and licensing services to all road users in the municipal area.
- Promote road safety and enforce road traffic legislation/regulations and municipal by-laws.
- Perform driver licence testing and learner licence testing.
- Test the roadworthiness of vehicles at the roadworthy test centre.
- Carry out traffic services, traffic safety and related liaison tasks with the public.
- Perform general administrative, safety and supervisory duties.
- Undertake road safety campaigns and programmes in all towns within the municipal boundaries.
- Assist with and respond to firefighting services duties across the municipality.
- Supervise staff as part of the Traffic & Law Enforcement Services division.
- Perform any other related tasks contained in the official job description.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Traffic Officer Diploma.
- Successful completion of:
- Provincial courses in testing of drivers/learners, and
- Provincial courses in examination of vehicles at roadworthy test centres.
- Certificate as Examiner of Vehicles and registration certificates from the Provincial Department of Transport.
- 5–8 years’ relevant experience in traffic law enforcement, testing and/or vehicle examination.
- Valid Code A and EC driver’s licence.
- Fluent in two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
- Strong human relations and communication skills.
- Ability to handle conflict, stress and work pressure.
- Ability to act consequently and firmly, with high integrity and trustworthiness.
- No criminal record (valid SAPS clearance certificate or proof of application must accompany the application; valid certificate not older than 6 months must be produced on the interview day).
- SARS tax number (compulsory – failure to provide will disqualify the application).
