The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) is seeking an experienced and ethical professional to join its Risk and Compliance Division as a Senior Forensic Investigator. Role Overview
The Senior Forensic Investigator will conduct internal forensic investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, and unethical conduct at the NHBRC. The incumbent will work closely with law enforcement agencies, executive management, and internal departments to strengthen fraud prevention systems, enhance compliance, and protect the integrity of the Council’s operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Risk Officer with strategic planning of the forensic function.
- Establish and maintain a fraud investigation and forensic audit capability within the organisation.
- Develop and implement fraud prevention and detection strategies, plans, and policies.
- Conduct and manage forensic investigations into allegations of fraud, corruption, or irregularities.
- Analyse financial statements and systems for potential anomalies or manipulation.
- Manage and maintain the fraud hotline register.
- Liaise with law enforcement and intelligence agencies to ensure successful prosecutions.
- Compile comprehensive investigation reports for disciplinary, civil, or criminal proceedings.
- Present forensic findings and recommendations to senior/executive management.
- Identify and mitigate risks during investigations; contribute to the fraud risk register.
- Support implementation of remedial actions based on audit and risk findings.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric.
- Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Forensics, Risk Management, Commerce, or a related field.
- Five (5) years forensic, fraud investigation, or forensic audit project management experience.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Commercial Forensic Practitioner (FPSA) – in good standing.
- Proven experience conducting complex internal investigations and data analysis.
System Skills
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- SAP or equivalent enterprise systems.
